Data Governance Specialist

ABOUT LHV

We're building a bank the world actually needs – modern, sharp and genuinely human. We started in Estonia, growing through grit and high standards. Now we're taking on the UK and Europe. The next chapter is about doing the most ambitious work we've ever done, and changing how people experience money.

We run on three values: No Bullshit, Agile, and Never Satisfied. They're not wall art. They're how we make decisions, push each other and show up every day.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

LHV is in the middle of something big. And this is your chance to be part of it.

We’re transforming how data is structured, understood, and connected across our organisation. As our data ecosystem grows and regulatory expectations evolve, our data is only as powerful as it is clear, reliable, and discoverable. That’s where you come in.

We need a hands-on expert who will bridge the gap between business and technical teams. By bringing our metadata and business glossary into a shared, transparent environment, formalizing business rules, and simplifying workflows, you will turn complex data into a trusted foundation for future data products and automated solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage and configure our data catalogue as the primary superuser, ensuring workflows, and taxonomy structures support daily operational and governance requirements.

  • Expand and align our business glossary at the group level, formalising business terms, critical data elements, and business rules alongside data owners and Data Stewards.

  • Lead the consolidation and migration of technical and business metadata into the central data catalogue, establishing clear metadata associations, business mappings, and an intuitive user experience.

  • Collaborate with platform engineers to define technical requirements for catalogue enhancements, map data flows, and automate end-to-end data lineage and metadata ingestion.

  • Refine our stewardship workflows, identifying process bottlenecks and exploring opportunities to automate metadata curation and routine tasks using AI.

  • Deliver targeted training sessions and practical documentation to support Data Owners and Stewards, and business stakeholders across the organisation.

  • Establish the groundwork for mature data governance practices, including data contracts, data quality monitoring, and data products.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • At least one year of hands-on experience actively administering, configuring, or managing an enterprise data catalogue or metadata management platform.

  • Proven track record in formalising business glossaries, documenting critical data elements, and establishing clear business rules.

  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying, data profiling, and verifying metadata.

  • Ability to translate data governance policies into functional tool configurations, stewardship workflows, and clear technical requirements.

  • Confident communication and presentation skills, with the willingness to train and advise stakeholders across technical and business domains.

  • You already reside in Estonia as we don't offer relocation for this role.

  • Experience with automated metadata harvesting, REST APIs, or bulk metadata updates is a strong advantage.

  • Prior exposure to regulatory reporting frameworks or financial sector data environments is a distinct plus.

  • Proficiency in Estonian language is preferred.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE

  • Build something that lasts long after you've moved on.

  • Work with ambitious colleagues who value innovation and move fast.

  • Enjoy the freedom to experiment and the ownership to build real impact.

  • Grow professionally and personally through meaningful opportunities.

THE FUTURE WE'RE BUILDING

Banking has been ugly, slow and impersonal for too long. We're fixing that with design that respects people's intelligence and technology that actually works for them.

If that sounds like the kind of problem worth working on, let's talk.
