Data Platform Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer to help us build a modern data platform within our Data & AI area. We aim to provide shared data foundations across the company so that teams can treat data as a product and move fast while staying secure, compliant, and consistent by default.

You'll work on core platform capabilities, ranging from the data catalog and self-service data lake provisioning to dbt runtimes, data quality, and computational governance. Your work will reduce friction for engineers and analysts by turning complex infrastructure and governance requirements into simple, reusable platform building blocks.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Data Catalog Ownership: Own and evolve our data catalog built on OpenMetadata, including custom integrations for in-house data sources and tight coupling with the data product lifecycle.

  • Efficient Platform Tooling: Build opinionated platform tooling that enables teams to create compliant data lakes in days, not months, using Terraform modules for S3, IAM, Lake Formation, and access patterns.

  • Reusable Component Design: Design and maintain reusable platform components such as dbt runtimes for transformations and tests, data quality checks, and standardized data contracts using Open Data Contract Standard (ODCS).

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to ensure data is secure, reliable, discoverable, and easy to consume.

  • Mentorship and Culture: Mentor other engineers and contribute to shared standards, patterns, and engineering culture.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, especially S3, Glue, Athena, and Lake Formation. Depth in some areas matters more than breadth

  • Strong SQL and Python skills, with experience building and maintaining data pipelines or platform services. Knowledge of Spark is a plus

  • Practical experience with infrastructure as a code, preferably Terraform

  • Experience extending, integrating, or operating data platform tools such as data catalogs, metadata systems, or other open-source components

  • Understanding of data modeling, schemas, and contracts, and interest in making data interfaces explicit and reliable

  • Experience with DevOps and GitOps practices, especially for enforcing computational governance

  • Experience with Docker and basic familiarity with Kubernetes

  • A platform engineering mindset, thinking in terms of reusable components, paved roads, and developer experience

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE

  • Help shape how a modern bank looks, feels, and operates.

  • Work with ambitious colleagues who value innovation and move fast.

  • Enjoy the freedom to experiment and the ownership to build real impact.

  • Grow professionally and personally through meaningful opportunities.

THE FUTURE WE'RE BUILDING

We believe the next generation of banking will be intelligent, personal and grounded in human understanding.

Our solutions will make finance simpler, fairer, and more empowering for everyone.

Join us and help define what LHV can become next.
