We're building a bank the world actually needs – modern, sharp and genuinely human. We started in Estonia, growing through grit and high standards. Now we're taking on the UK and Europe. The next chapter is about doing the most ambitious work we've ever done, and changing how people experience money.
We run on three values: No Bullshit, Agile, and Never Satisfied. They're not wall art. They're how we make decisions, push each other and show up every day.
LHV is in the middle of something big. And this is your chance to be part of it.
Sound risk management is not about ticking boxes; it is the backbone of sustainable banking. In an ambitious, fast-growing environment, our quantitative models must be resilient, mathematically robust, and rigorously challenged.
As the Model Validation Lead, you will play a key role in independently assessing and challenging LHV’s risk models, helping ensure that model risks are identified, understood and appropriately managed. You will provide technical guidance to fellow validators, continuously improve our validation methodologies, and help develop and maintain our overall model risk framework. By identifying methodological weaknesses and ensuring independent, high-quality reviews, you will directly strengthen LHV's model risk management.
Perform independent validations of credit risk models and other risk models as needed, managing the entire process from scoping and testing to final reporting.
Prepare and present validation reports, clearly communicating findings and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
Provide technical and methodological guidance to fellow validators, reviewing their work to ensure consistent, high-quality standards across the team.
Improve the validation framework and workflows continuously, aligning them with regulatory guidelines and industry best practices while maintaining a risk-based approach.
Partner constructively with model developers and business owners to challenge quantitative assumptions, while engaging in audit reviews and regulatory dialogues.
University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience building or validating credit risk models (such as PD, LGD, EAD, or IFRS 9).
Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL, with strong skills in querying, processing, and analyzing complex datasets.
Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and requirements, including EBA, IFRS 9, and IRB.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to draw well-founded conclusions from complex quantitative analyses.
Ability to challenge model assumptions constructively, communicate findings confidently, and engage effectively with stakeholders.
Current residency in Estonia, as relocation assistance is not provided for this role.
Proficiency in the Estonian language.
Build something that lasts long after you've moved on.
Have real authority to shape validation standards and methodologies.
Work with ambitious colleagues who value innovation and move fast.
Enjoy the freedom to experiment and the ownership to build real impact.
Grow professionally and personally through meaningful opportunities.
Banking has been ugly, slow and impersonal for too long. We're fixing that with design that respects people's intelligence and technology that actually works for them.
If that sounds like the kind of problem worth working on, let's talk.
